Tsunami Saipan Swimming Center and Saipan Swim Club will have their second mutual time trial today and Wednesday at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan lap pool in San Antonio.
A total of 70 swimmers from both swim clubs are expected to take part in the competition, which will use a 25-yard lap pool, which coincidentally is the official size pool of USA swimming.
Today’s events include the 100m butterfly, 25m kick, 50m butterfly, 25m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke, and 50m freestyle (11-and-over division).
The Wednesday events are for the 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, 25m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle (10-and-under), and 200m yard event (any stroke).
The first mutual time trial last March had around 50 swimmers participate and offered 50m or more distance event only. However, for this month Tsunami Saipan and SSC are staging 25m yard events for young swimmers for their development.
In May 13 and 14, Tsunami Saipan and SSC will hold their third mutual time trial. May’s event will be used as a season-ending event, as both clubs will resume training and their mutual meets in September.
Tsunami Saipan and SSC would like to thank Pacific Islands Club Saipan and TanHoldings for helping them stage their series of mutual time trials. (Mark Rabago)
