Tsunami Saipan holds time trial
Swimming Center Tsunami Saipan held a time trial in seven events early this month with more than 30 swimmers racing at the Pacific Islands Club pool.
The event started with a 50-yard freestyle swim and Juhn Tenorio posted the fastest time (23.78 seconds) among the 39 finishers. Hans Xu and Nelson Batallones recorded the second and third best marks after logging 24.94 second and 24.99 seconds, respectively. In the girls division, Ashley Dangol led the finishers with her 25.55 seconds.
Xu topped the 50-yard backstroke (27.83 seconds), while Aika Watanabe led in the girls field with her 29.46 seconds. In the 50-yard butterfly, Batallones ruled his favorite event after checking in at 26.07 seconds, while Dangol was the fastest in the girls division after recording 27.61 seconds.
Tenorio delivered in the 50-yard breaststroke event after registering 31.24 seconds, while Asaka Litulumar earned the best time in the girls race with her 36.59 seconds.
Besides the 50-yard races, Tsunami Saipan also had time trials in the 25-yard and 100-yard backstroke and 25-yard freestyle.
The time trial aimed at gauging Tsunami Saipan’s improvement since they returned to practice (late last year after Super Typhoon Yutu) and also served as warm-up for Tenorio and Watanabe, who will represent the CNMI to the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa this summer.
