TSL Foundation executive director Merlie Tolentino presented TanHoldings charitable arm’s $5,000 donation to Marianas Variety president Amier Younis last month in support of the MV Founder’s Memorial Golf Tournament. Marianas Variety is holding the golf tournament tomorrow, Saturday, at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort in celebration of its 50th anniversary and in honor of its founder and former publisher, the late Abed Younis.
“On behalf of the management and staff of Marianas Variety, we would like to thank TanHoldings and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for their support to our event,” said Amier Younis.
The Marianas Variety president added that portion of the proceeds from tomorrow’s tournament will be donated to Karidat Social Services, which for decades has been responding to the needs of the community through its food pantry program, rental assistance, and other initiatives that cater to those living in poverty and victims of violence and natural disaster.
“There’s a lot of history between Marianas Variety’s founder and Karidat. The late Mr. Abed Younis was a former board member of Karidat and also an avid golfer, so it’s really fitting that we have this event in honor of him and we have the non-profit group closed to him as our beneficiary,” Amier said.
Meanwhile, Tolentino congratulates Marianas Variety for its milestone. She also acknowledged the publishing company’s contributions to the community for five decades, including providing Karidat with the means to help NMI residents.
The inaugural MV Founder’s Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 7:30am on the west course of the Kagman facility. It will have competitions in seven categories: Super Senior, Senior, Ladies, Championship, A, B, and C flights. (PR)
