TSL Foundation leads 9/11 commemoration
The Tan Siu Lin Foundation and organizers of the We Will Never Forget: Field of Heroes will kick off the series of ceremonies commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States tomorrow at the American Memorial Park.
The ceremony will start at 5:30pm and will be preceded by the Freedom Walk that will begin at the Garapan Fishing Base at 5pm and end at the AMP grounds, where U.S. flags have been posted since last Sunday.
U.S. flags have been on display, too at the Corporal Joe G. Charfauros Jr. Rota Veterans Memorial Park since last Friday. The island’s ceremony to honor the memories of those who perished in the 9/11 attacks, the heroes that saved many lives on that day, veterans, law enforcement personnel, firefighters and other first responders will be held on Sept. 17 at 4pm.
Tinian will have its own ceremony, which has been pushed back to Sept. 16 at 10:30am. Ceremonies on all three islands will feature a wreath dedication, gun salute, and speeches.

Meanwhile, Triple J Saipan and IT&E are among the sponsors of this year’s We Will Never Forget: Field of Heroes. Triple J is a heritage sponsor of the event, while IT&E is part of the stars and stripes supporters list.
“Triple J Saipan is proud to support this event in honor of our heroes. The notion to remember a ‘hero’—someone who has given their time, energy, and in some cases, their life, placing the needs of others first, is an honorable gesture,” said Triple J vice president for Finance and Administration Mike Sablan.
“Today and every day, we stand with our men and women in uniform. We are proud of our commitment to honoring and supporting our heroes,” said IT&E Customer Operations executive director Rob Harrell.
