Christmas came early for PDM Promoters, Inc., after it received a $2,000 donation from the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for its beautification and tourism promotion projects.

Merlie Tolentino, executive director of the TSL Foundation—the charitable arm of TanHoldings—turned over the check to PDM Promoters, Inc. director and chief executive officer Misako Kamata last month at the TanHoldings Corporate Affairs’ office at JP Center.

“The progress and success of our programs have largely been due to contributions from our sponsors who have gone out of their way to lend financial support to us. With the assistance of generous donors in our community, like the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, we are able to achieve our goals and continue our programs,” Kamata said. “We share a common goal of serving and helping our community.”

The TSL Foundation’s donation was used to purchase materials for the Christmas trees that are now on display at Paseo de Marianas as part of the island’s holiday festivities. The financial assistance will also help PDM Promoters, Inc. in its monthly cleanup drive and for the uniforms and instruments used by the Saipan Awaodori Team.

The Saipan Awaodori Team, which is made up of local dancers and musicians, travels to Japan annually and performs in key places in Tokyo. This year, the group joined the Koenji Awaodori Festival—the largest gathering in Tokyo—and was featured in a Japanese television show, highlighting the performances that the group does in different events in the Commonwealth, such as the Liberation Day Parade and Christmas in the Marianas.

“The Tan Siu Lin Foundation is pleased to work with PDM Promoters, Inc., which for more than a decade has been helping promote our islands to Japanese tourists. They are also responsible for the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest that schools look forward to every year and brings the holiday spirit on island,” Tolentino said.

She also commended PDM Promoters, Inc. for instilling in its staff and members of the Saipan Awaodori Team the importance of taking care of the environment by holding regular cleanup drives, especially in areas frequented by tourists. (PR)
