The Tan Siu Lin Foundation’s philanthropic work continues, helping organizations move forward with their community projects amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The TSLF Foundation, the charitable arm of TanHoldings, donated $2,000 to the Make-A-Wish Guam and CNMI Chapter and $1,000 to the Soroptimist International NMI to support their programs that are facing challenges right now due to the pandemic. Make-A-Wish grants wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, while Soroptimist NMI advocates for women empowerment.

Make-A- Wish Guam and CNMI board member Jay Santos said the Tan Siu Lin Foundation’s donation will be used for their program and, although it’s unfortunate that the various events they planned for this year are on hold due to the crisis, their group would still want to hear from families with terminally-ill children and work on making their wishes come true.

Santos, who was joined by fellow board members Patty Palacios and Carline Sablan in receiving the donation, added that Make-A- Wish Guam and CNMI deeply appreciates the TSL Foundation’s generosity, especially in these challenging times.

“We understand that it’s very difficult to raise funds or receive donations nowadays because of the pandemic so we are truly grateful to the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for stepping up,” Santos said.

Meanwhile, Soroptimist NMI president Donna Krum said they will be using the TSL Foundation’s donation for their annual Live Your Dream gala that will be held this Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan. Live Your Dream is a program of Soroptimist International that gives cash awards to women who are pursuing their education.

“We would like to thank the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for supporting our program, which is aimed at bettering the lives of women through education,” said Krum.

Tan Siu Lin Foundation executive director Merlie Tolentino praised the Soroptimist NMI and Make-A- Wish Guam and CNMI for what they do for the community, particularly for children and women.

“The Tan Siu Lin Foundation rallies behind organizations that provide life-changing experiences to our community members,” Tolentino said. (PR)
