Tropang Ridhors stretched its win streak to three, while Silencer also got its third victory in the 2nd Ali’i Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.
Tropang Ridhors kept its unbeaten record (3-0) following a 91-71 triumph over the Gold Ballers in the second game, while earlier in the first match, Silencer also posted a double-digit win against the Green Archers, 101-88.
Angelo Fernando and Kelvin Fitial did the damage for Silencer, as they combined for more than half of the squad’s output. Fernando exploded for 30 points despite suiting up for Silencer late in the first quarter, while Fitial finished with 25 points, leading his team’s attack late in the second frame.
Silencer fell behind by as much as 7 points in the second canto, 32-25, but managed to recover and even stole the driver’s seat at halftime, 44-42, thanks to Fitial’s 9 points in that period.
Fitial continued to bulldoze his way into the basket against the much smaller frontliners of the Green Archers, while Fernando also hit his target to increase their lead to 7, 69-62, going into the final quarter. Fernando went on to put the finishing touches in Silencer’s victory, as he sizzled for 15 points in the payoff canto.
The win was third in a row for Silencer, which dropped its debut last month, losing to Green Minded, 58-89. The Green Archers are still winless in four games.
Also on a streak is Tropang Ridhors, which drew double figures from five players to dominate the Gold Ballers.
Ken Viray fired 28 points, Mevin Sahagun tallied 23, and John Paul Morales chipped in 13. Junar Guiab and Joy Dayrit registered 12 and 11 markers, respectively, to complete Tropang Ridhors’ balance scoring.
After leading by only 3 at the end of the first quarter, 22-19, behind Viray’s 14 points, Tropang Ridhors started spreading the wealth in the second resulting to a 45-35 halftime edge. Tropang Ridhors never looked back to hand Gold Ballers its second loss in three games.
