Triple J Enterprises is on board the Public Private Partnership campaign of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers and has chosen to adopt the Jones Beach Park on Tinian.
Triple J became the first company to commit to transforming and maintaining a site on Tinian, deciding to adopt one of the most visited places on the island. The park is located in San Jose village and has five beachside pavilions, an ample parking lot, and big ground that is used for camping and sports and recreational activities. Years of lack of maintenance and extensive damage from typhoons convinced Triple J that the site is in dire need of upgrade and repairs.
The Jones Beach was not only a practical choice for Triple J, but also a sentimental one, as the park was renamed (from Kammer Beach) in honor of the late Kenneth Thomas Jones Jr., the brother of Triple J founding chair and chief executive officer Robert H. Jones who pioneered a cattle ranch and farm on Tinian in the 1960s. The new sign of the beach park bearing Kenneth’s last name was recently unveiled, designed by no less than Robert H. Jones.
Triple J assisted the Tinian Mayor’s Office and the Department of Public Works in improving Jones Beach: Electrical wiring, panel boxes, and lighting fixtures at all five pavilions were replaced and power and water were restored to the site. The pavilions were also repainted along with the parking lots. Repair work started last Jan. 25 and was completed last Feb. 12 in time for the Pika Festival, when Tinian welcomed hundreds of visitors for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck.
Triple J vice president Mike S. Sablan said that joining the PPP and adopting Jones Beach is their way of thanking the community for supporting the company. Triple J is into auto dealership and car rentals, hotel, restaurants, and retail store operations, and real estate. It recently expanded its business to Tinian with the opening of the Tinian Western Lodge, Bar-K Diner and Drive-in, and Hertz Rent-A-Car office.
“It is Triple J’s pleasure to give back to the good people of Tinian. Our sponsorship of Jones Beach is a small gesture of doing so in appreciation of the community’s warm support of our business presence on the island,” Sablan said.
He added that Triple J will continue to work with the Tinian Mayor’s Office to maintain Jones Beach and in future transformation projects for the site. (PR)
