A new race will hit the road this year with the staging of Triple J Foam & Fun 5K on Sept. 2.

Organized by Triple J Enterprises, Inc., the event will give Saipan running enthusiasts a fun experience as they cruise along Beach Road.

“This run is themed ‘Foam & Fun Run’ because we have two infinite foam machines that shoot out over 15 feet of foam in under two minutes and then we throw some color powder on runners to guarantee that participants will be happy, have fun, and not worry about getting messy. Colored powder and foam solution are both biodegradable and safe for the environment, plus we have 1,000 free dri-fit T-shirts that will be given out to the first 1,000 registrants,” Triple J vice president for marketing and public relations Kristine Lujan said.

The run will start and end in front of the former 4H Building (now Sakman Guma) in Susupe with a turnaround near Quartermaster Road. The race will kick off at 6am and showtime is at 5:15am. Interested individuals can register on the day of the event for $15 only. Entry fees before the race day is $10 each and $35 for a group of four. Registration will begin on Aug. 14 and forms can be picked up and turned in at Triple J Motors, Triple J Corporate Office, Triple J Five Star/Truckload Wholesale, and Hertz Rental in Garapan.

Triple J will award medals and other prizes to the top finishers in each age group and the first overall winners in the men’s and women’s divisions.

The entire proceeds from the inaugural Triple J Foam & Fun 5K will be donated to Commonwealth Cancer Association and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“A love for the community is one of Triple J’s deepest values, and partnerships with local non-profit organizations like Commonwealth Cancer Association and Make-A-Wish Foundation, the beneficiaries for this year’s run, link our group to our community in very meaningful ways. Our founder, Robert H. Jones has always said ‘Let’s all remember to put more into the pot of life than we take out and leave some for those less fortunate.’ He and the Jones family have always believed in giving back because everything belongs to the Lord, we are just temporary custodians and must always do the right thing—his words resonate within our group of companies as we strive to build better communities,” Lujan said.

The Triple J official added that they will hold the run on Saipan every year.

“We are going on our 12th year of the run in Guam, and we thought there is no better time than the present to start the tradition on Saipan, we definitely will be making this an annual run. We know the runners who come out and support local 5Ks want to be happy, healthy, and make a difference. Through this partnership with Make-A-Wish and CCA, we’re able to offer them exactly what they want: a way to engage with our local community and make an impact long after they cross the finish line. This annual run is for families to celebrate health and life, as part of a group effort to give back to our community and support these non-profit organizations,” Lujan added.

Meanwhile, Tan Siu Lin Foundation echoed Triple J’s belief in supporting and promoting healthy activities in the CNMI and has donated $10,000 for the September race. TanHoldings president Jerry Tan, foundation manager Merlie Tolentino, and foundation assistant manager Raymond Zapanta turned in the ceremonial check to Triple J Motors manager Randy Steele and Triple J Saipan controller Tracy Guerrero yesterday.
