Six teams will be contesting the inaugural Under-18 tournament, which will follow a double-round robin format that is expected to stretch for three months. The time of the opening and complete schedule of games will be announced at a latter date.

Players that would join in the tournament would also get a chance to be selected as members of the CNMI U21 All-Star team that would compete in the Baseball Confederation of Oceania regional tournament.

The BCO-organized U21 tournament will be hosted by Saipan either in the week after the Christmas holidays or early January in 2016.

The DYS-funded Triple A league was originally scheduled in August but was moved to October after Typhoon Soudelor damaged the Tan Ko Baseball Field and other sports facilities on the island.

The Tan Ko field—which recently hosted the Little League Asia-Pacific-Middle East Regional Baseball Tournament in the Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions—suffered heavy damage as some of its lights were either misaligned or missing while the surrounding fence and other areas of the facility, including the batting cages, needs to be fixed.

League organizers would provide the team uniforms and matches will be played on day time every Saturdays and Sundays since the lights could not be used for night matches.

DYS is encouraging under privileged kids to join the league or any team.
