The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, in collaboration with Mount Carmel School, restored its traditional celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception last Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, which celebrates the belief that Mary the mother of Jesus was conceived and preserved without the effects of original sin.

The Immaculate Conception is a holy day of obligation in the Catholic community. As part of the traditional ceremony, the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, Mount Carmel School students, and community members held a Mass that crowned the Blessed Mother, guided the procession along Beach Road, and held the candle tribute for the Blessed Mother Mary.

This restoration of the traditional ceremony was deemed more special as celebrations have been adapted for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (MCS)
