The Triathlon Association of the CNMI will hold the TRAC Summer Sportsfest 2016 this Sunday in Marpi.
There will be three competitions in the weekend event with the triathlon race dubbed as Chagi Paupau Triathlon 5150 set to start at Paupau Beach, while the bike and 10K run contests will begin at Mariana Resort. All races will kick off at 6am.
The triathlon event will have a 1.5-kilometer swim course, while the bike and run legs have 40K and 10K distances, respectively. The bike leg will start at the parking lot of Paupau Beach with bikers heading to RTE 30 and Banzai Cliff Road, Powerade Station 4 before turning around and proceeding to RTE 30 all the way to Powerade Station 2 (Seafix sign, north of Saipan Ice). Participants will do the bike course twice before going to Mariana Resort for the bike-run transition.
In the run leg, triathletes will head to Powerade Station 3, Last Command Post, Veterans Memorial loop, Powerade Station 4, and Banzai Cliff before going back to Mariana Resort.
For the bike race, there will be three divisions: 10K kids category, 60K road bike, and 21K MTB. The kids race will bring bikers to east of Last Command Post, Powerade Station 2 and 4 at Banzai Cliff and back to Mariana Resort. For the 60K road bike event, riders will do the course (left to RTE 30, Banzai Cliff, Powerade Station 3, turnaround and all the way to Powerade Station 2 before returning to Mariana Resort) three times. In the 21K MTB, participants will pass through Binadu Drive, the back side of Marianas Golf Resort and the end of FEBC. Then they will go down Kimikaze Trail, Santa Claus, Cowtown, and Banzai Trail. From Banzai, bikers will take the RTE 30 all the way up to Ayuyu Drive, FEBC, and back to Binadu Drive all the way to the finish line at Mariana Resort.
In the 10K fun run, participants will go to Last Command Post, around the Veterans Memorial, Powerade Station 4 at Banzai Cliff, and back to Mariana Resort for the finish.
Registration forms for the three competitions are available at Saipan Bike Pro and Taro Sue. Entry fees are only $10 with the first 50 paid entrees getting a free T-shirt. There will be no entrance fee for students (18 years old and below) participating in the sportsfest. Registration deadline is this Saturday and race kits can be picked up at the 13 Fishermen pavilion.
