Tourism industry cleans up Garapan

The Japan Saipan Travel Association conducted its semi-annual cleanup of Garapan on April 23, 2016, drawing 68 participants and collecting over 100 lbs of trash.

JSTA was again joined by the Marianas Visitors Authority, a number of tourism industry companies, and community members in their efforts to pick up trash from American Memorial Park to the Carolinian Affairs Office along roadways and the beach.

“JSTA has been a valuable partner through the years in leading this semi-annual cleanup of Garapan before our busiest tourism periods in the summer and during the holidays, and the MVA is pleased to again join them,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion.

“We thank all the companies and community members who support this cleanup year after year, and we look forward to more participation at the next cleanup.”

Other participating companies were: Northern Marianas Dive Operators Association, Japan Society of the Northern Mariana Islands, Himawari Kenbukan, Pau Pau Tours, Aqua Connections, Saipan World Resort, Marianas Sports Club, CMLC, Pacific Micronesia Tour, S2 Club, H.I.S., PDI, K.C.A,MakeSure Diving, Big Eye Diving, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, R&C Tours, and Tasi Tours & Transportation.
