(MVA) “Tourism is Everybody’s Business,” is the slogan for the Marianas Tourism Education Council, which recently received a boost from Docomo Pacific. MTEC was presented with a contribution of over $5,200 from Docomo Pacific on Dec. 15, 2011.

James Nelson, Docomo Pacific general manager, stated, “MTEC has been instrumental with educating the CNMI youth on the benefits of the tourism and visitor industry. This is our way of supporting the MTEC programs that the MTEC and MY WAVE Clubs are committed to, namely, instilling the ‘Hafa Adai Culture’ in all our schools.”

MTEC chair Vicky Benavente said, “The MTEC is fortunate to partner with Docomo Pacific for supporting our community-based activities focusing on tourism education with our children, the future leaders of our islands. The support from Docomo Pacific will also provide opportunities for the formation of more MY WAVE Clubs in the schools.”

MTEC is a nonprofit organization promoting community awareness on the importance of the visitor industry in the Northern Marianas. Membership is open to all interested parties.
