Torres swears in DoC commissioner Cabrera
Joined by her family members and fellow department heads, Georgia Muna Cabrera was sworn in by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres as the commissioner of the Department of Corrections during a swearing in event yesterday at the Office of the Governors press conference room in Capital Hill.
With the ceremony yesterday, Cabrera finally settles into her post in an official capacity, after being nominated by Torres in early March and having her nomination scrutinized by the Senate in hearings that month.
The Senate confirmed her appointment late last month.
The Corrections captain has been with the department since 1995, working her way up through ranks. She comes after former DoC commissioner Robert Guerrero who was appointed to lead the Department of Public Safety.
Torres also yesterday swore in second-generation businessman Joe Erra Ayuyu as member of the Commonwealth Zoning Board.
“Gov. Torres and Lt. Gov. Hocog congratulate him for his successful confirmation and wish him well in this important endeavor,” the Office of Governor said in a statement yesterday.
Ayuyu will serve another two-year term.
