Torres signs three bills into law

On Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed into law:
– House Local Bill 20-44, S1, which re-appropriates $1,270,779.89 from Section 2(a) of Tinian Local Law 20-3. Offered by Rep. Edwin P. Aldan and passed unanimously by the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation, this bill becomes Tinian Local Law 20-09.
– Senate Bill 20-40, SD1, which provides for the identification of a disabled veteran with at least 10 percent disability due to a service-related injury on license plates. Authored by Sen. Francisco Q. Cruz, this bill becomes Public Law 20-37.
– Senate Bill 20-72, which amends the CNMI guardianship statute to give the court flexibility to determine who is a qualified petitioner in order to protect the best interest of children who require guardianship in the CNMI. Authored by Senate President Arnold I. Palacios, this bill becomes Public Law 20-38.
