Torres says CNMI fight vs. COVID-19 now on last lap
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said Friday that with the vaccine against COVID-19 now available, the CNMI’s fight against the pandemic is now on its last lap.
Speaking at a radio news briefing, Torres said the CNMI has been through this COVID-19 for the last 10 months and all work together as a community.
“We should continue to work on the remaining days and months until we all get this COVID vaccine into our community,” he said.
Torres encouraged everyone to take the vaccine and asked those that are anxiously waiting to make sure they register in.
The governor got vaccinated Saturday.
Torres said there are some guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force is following through.
He said first and foremost will be the nurses, doctors, and the first responders.
“But overall, we encourage all of our community to take advantage of this vaccine,” he said.
Torres said he is aware that there are a lot of questions out there, but they have a call center as part of their educational outreach/campaign program.
The governor said he is personally thanking everyone in the community and to the departments/agencies, and business partners for “making the system works.”
The first batch of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines arrived on Saipan last Thursday. The vaccine shots will be free.
