Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog nominated Georgia M. Cabrera as the commissioner for the Department of Corrections. This nomination requires the advice and consent of the Senate.

In his letter to Cabrera, Torres said, “I am fully confident that you are qualified and will consistently devote your time and efforts to fulfill the vital requirements of this office and will be an asset to the Commonwealth.”

Joe Pangelinan had served as acting commissioner during the transition period when former DOC commissioner Robert A. Guerrero was called upon to head the Department of Public Safety.

“Lt. Governor Hocog and I are pleased to appoint Ms. Georgia Cabrera to serve the administration as the Commissioner for the Department of Corrections. Her long career and experience at the department will be an asset for this post. Lt. Governor Hocog and I appreciate her accepting this appointment,” said Torres.
