Torres jump-starts weight loss journey

“I get to appreciate life itself.”
Thus stated Gov. Ralph DLG Torres in response to questions during a radio press briefing Friday about his health and why he has been seen lately doing regular physical fitness.
Torres currently weighs 250 lbs. At 42 years old, he is the youngest governor in the nation, a record that he holds for seven years now.
The governor has six children—his oldest is turning 16 and youngest is 6.
An aspect of being in politics is that Torres has had to attend to so many different funerals. “Every day I thank the Lord of having my mom here, having both my in-laws, my wife, my kids,” Torres said.
The governor said he has realized that he is the only one that can make changes when it comes to his health, and that’s through dedication. Torres said he is just prioritizing his health by eating less, focusing on healthy foods.
He said he talked to his wife, Diann, on making changes to his life.
“So I’ve been to the gym in the morning, waking up 4:30 in the morning,” he said. “Don’t expect me to get six-pack [abs] any time soon,” he added, smiling.
The governor said every time he wakes up, his wife and three or four of their children are still in bed.
“I look at them and say I’ll be back,” Torres said.
He said he does not intend to ask anybody to be healthier as this is only his take because he wants to improve himself and start leading by example when it comes to health.
He acknowledged that it might take a while to cut his weight, but he’s getting an outpouring support from different organizations and people in this journey.
“I’m not here to educate people about their health because I’m working on mine. But it feels good,” Torres said.
