The playoffs started last week where regular season topnotcher Team X8 got almost eliminated but managed to cling on in the loser’s bracket after going 1-1 in the double elimination round format.

Team X8 opened the playoffs with a 25-20, 23-25, 8-15 loss to Set 2 Kill on June 9, but avoided an early vacation after bouncing back with a 25-23, 25-19 decision against Just 4 Fun on June 11.

That was Just 4 Fun’s second loss after it also absorbed a 17-25, 18-25 setback against Division of Youth Services on June 11 thus eliminating them in the tournament.

Four and The Power Express joined DYS and Set 2 Kill on the winner’s bracket after also posting separate victories.

Four survived a tough 23-25, 25-11, 15-9 match against the Managaha Unknowns, while the TPE pulled off a 25-20, 25-18 triumph over Aztig, which played back-to-back matches on June 11.

The Managaha Unknowns ousted Aztig, 25-19, 26-24, to join Team X8 in the loser’s bracket.

The playoffs will continue on June 23, Tuesday, with Set 2 Kill hoping to earn a spot in the semifinals when it takes on Four in the 8pm first game, while DYS battles TPE at the same time in the other court.

The winners of the Set 2 Kill-Four game at the North court and the DYS-TPE match at the South side will advance to the semis on Thursday, June 25. The loser of the DYS-TPE match will take on Team X8 in the 9pm contest, while the losing squad in the Set 2 Kill-Four match will clash with the Managaha Unknowns in the South court.

The championship is set at 8pm on June 30 and at 9pm, if necessary.
