Northern Yankees slugger Peter Tomokane and Falcons hurler Peter Lieto posted decent numbers to become the early statistical leaders in their respective fields in the 2015 Saipan Baseball League.

Tomokane had four hits in his four times at bat for a perfect 1.000 percentage to take the batting leader lead in the new season entering its second week. He had three singles and a double.

The veteran batter achieved the feat in the Yankees’ 17-5 demolition of the North Starz last Jan. 14. He also scored a run on a Brian Camacho RBI double.

The Brewers’ Jun Rabauliman (3-for-4) came in second with a .750 average while, Yankees teammates Jerome Delos Santos and Gary Cruz are tied from third to fourth (4-for-6) with .667, respectively.

Roy Celis, also of the Brewers, is currently in fifth spot (3-for-5), batting .600 while the Fielders pair of Anthony Tenorio and Cedric Ada (4-for-8) joined five other batters from sixth to 12th places with .500 average.

The Brewers’ Marvin Kaipat, the Yankees’s Robert Bansil, the Falcons’ Jeremy Atalig, and Jets batters Dave Matagolai and Frankie Norita all went 2-for-4.

Jesse Sablan of the North Starz and the Yankess’ Ben Jones Jr. batted 2-for-6 (.333) and the North Starz’ Ricardo Dela Cruz (2-for-7, .286) round up the Top 15 batters.

Jones Jr. also hit an inside-the-park home run and added three RBIs under his name to join Cruz, Dela Cruz, and Kaipat.

Jose Lizama of the Fielders is the current runs leader with four, while teammate Tom Agulto already had two doubles. The Yankees’ Peter Tenorio and the Falcons’ Henry Iguel have a triple each.

The Falcons ace hurler Lieto, meanwhile, had already pitched seven complete innings, while the Brewers’ Vince Cepeda was on the mound for six to end up tied with a clean slate in ERA.

Manny Cabrera (Yankees, 2.25); Mike Muna (Jets, 2.57); Jimmy Brel (Fielders, 3.00); and the North Starz pair of Jonahan Tenorio (3.38) and Richard Dela Cruz (7.50) complete the list.

Lieto is also the current strikeouts leader with 18, while Cepeda and Muna are tied with 11 apiece.

The two-time defending champion Brewers, Fielders, and Yankees currently have 1-0 slates to end up tied on top of the standings, while the Falcons are in the middle with an even 1-1 card. The Jets lost their first game against the Falcons (10-4), while the North Starz has yet to win after two matches.
