Team Tomodachi has won the 2023 Roccball championship games held last week at the Marianas High School Gymnasium for the second time in two years.
Team Tomodachi defeated the players of Team Nakama in the best-of-three finals for their back-to-back title.
Tomodachi defeated Team Nakama in the first game, 47-32, and won the Roccball championship in the second game with a 44- 31 win. In their two games of competition there were a total of 27 two-point aces, five two-point xunks, four two-point backcourt kees, and four three-point goals scored in addition to the one point floor scores.
Team Tomodachi’s total score for two games was 91 points. Of those points scored, 68% were of Roccball’s multiple point scoring techniques. Team Nakama scored a total of 63 points in the playoff games and scored 65% in the multiple point scoring methods. Team Tomodachi scored 29 one-point court plays and Team Nakama scored 35 one-point court plays.
A major difference and an important factor between game points between Tomodachi and Nakama were the teams’ players skills in the scoring the aces, xunks, kees, and goals of Roccball’s team net sport scoring system. The Heavy Hitter of the championship games was Juruel Magatales of Team Tomodachi with five aces, two xunks, and two goals. (PR)
