On behalf of Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance, Ltd. and as its exclusive general agent in the CNMI, Pacifica Insurance Underwriters, Inc. recently presented a $10,000 donation to Joeten Daidai Foundation in support of the organization’s Typhoon Soudelor relief efforts on Saipan.

Soudelor made landfall in the CNMI on Aug. 2, 2015, with sustained winds suspected to have exceeded more than 100 miles per hour, leaving countless buildings and homes destroyed, particularly on Saipan. Hundreds of families were left without homes.

“We are positive our monetary donation to JDF in response to the recent disaster will become useful resources to victims of this devastating typhoon,” said TMPI president Hiroyuki Endo “Doing business in the CNMI for over 40 years, we consider this place our second home.”

TMPI, headquartered in Guam, is a subsidiary Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Company, Ltd. Tokio Marine has been writing business in the CNMI through its exclusive general agent, PIUI, since the early 1970s.

“Our partners at Tokio Marine never fail to show support to members of our community, especially in desperate times of need,” said PIUI president Norman Tenorio. “This donation is testament to their commitment.”

JDF is the charitable arm of Joeten Enterprises, Inc., which was established in 1994 as a vision of the late Jose “Joeten” and Soledad “Daidai” Tenorio, to promote the advancement of education, health, religion, wellness, and other efforts related to the social welfare and benefit of the community.

“We are humbled by Tokio Marine and Pacifica’s generosity. They can rest assured this donation will go toward helping to aid victims of Typhoon Soudelor and whatever rebuilding efforts we have ongoing,” said JDF president Frances Tenorio Demapan. (PR)
