Today’s workforce values diversity
Progressive and proactive employers recognize the importance of recruiting, hiring, and advancing the employment of qualified individuals with disabilities.
Tax incentives are available to businesses that hire qualified workers with disabilities or make their establishments accessible by removing physical barriers.
Also, new federal regulations known as Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, which became effective March 24, 2014, and is applicable to the CNMI, prohibits federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating against people based on disability and encourages them to take affirmative steps to promote the employment of qualified individuals with disabilities.
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation can assist businesses with their disability-related issues by providing guidance and technical assistance. OVR can also help eligible individuals with disabilities to prepare for the workforce by offering individualized vocational rehabilitation services including training and education.
