Titans, Voyagers keep hopes alive for sweep

19th Hole Bar & Grill’s Titans and Jonny’s Bar & Grill’s IT&E Voyagers remain the favorites in their respective Obyan and Agingan divisions as the Saipan Billiard Association’s Budweiser Cup “race-to-nine” postseason tournament started last week.
Obyan’s Titans were recently issued a first place finish after completion of the regular season by coming out on top of a pivotal tiebreaker against Jonny’s Bar & Grill’s Team SCS.
The Titans went on to outlast their rivals, 9-7, again in a tight road match last Tuesday to advance to the second round.
The Titans now must go through Poseidon’s Yang-Ku, and then surpass Jonny’s Crazy 8, which eliminated Shark Attack, 9-7, in a road draw held at Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill last week in order to make the finals.
In addition, Joe’s Steakhouse’s Fotten Palau ousted 19th Hole’s Poksu, 9-2, on the road last Tuesday to advance to the semifinal where they will be paired against Bammy’s Restaurant Bar & Grill’s Boom Boom, which downed The Water Front, 7-3, at home last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Agingan’s defending champion IT&E Voyagers is also still alive after after knocking out the Docomo Pacific Home Boyz, 9-4, in a road match at Poseidon last Tuesday to advance to the second round.
It will duel New Saipan Aluminum’s Hustlers at Utopia Sports Bar in the next round. Bammy’s IT&E Incredibles will also face off against Ocean Warriors in the other semifinal pairing at Joe’s.
Following the elimination matches, the two division kings will be crowned next Tuesday.
