Titans, Voyagers grab early lead
The Abyss Titans and the Jokers IT&E Voyagers grabbed the early lead in the Saipan Billiards Association-Budweiser Open 8-Ball League’s Winter/Spring 2015 season that opened last week in various bars on Saipan.
Nine teams are vying for the Thursday crown while six squads signed up in the Tuesday League.
The Titans kicked off their title bid in the Thursday League with a 10-5 win over the Barcode Hobbies Deadshot.
Jack Thomsaket, Patrick Cepeda, Randy Sablan, John Reyes, and Ray Matsunaga proved steadier against Marc Brian Nelvis, Greg Deleon Guerrero, Frankie, Blas and Drake Taitano of the Deadshot.

The Titans will try to pad their early lead when they take on the Jokers Homeboyz on Thursday night, while the Deadshot hopes to bounce back from that loss when they face the Barcode Breakers.
In other Thursday League matches, the Homeboyz, Wild Bill’s, and Abyss Rack ‘N Roll pulled off similar 9-6 decisions against the Smoke Pub Magic 8 Ball, Jokers Wonderpool Aces, and Breakers while Route33 Alamo Car Rental edged Jonny’s SCS, 8-7.
In the Tuesday League, the Voyagers were almost unbeatable in an 11-4 victory against the Abyss Homeboyz 2.
Mark Butac, R.J. Mascarinas, Brian Nelvis, and Rolly Villanueva dropped their respective matches against Joshua Woodson, Rey Hermogenes, George Lizardo, and Neil Ayson for the Homeboyz’s wins.
The Jokers STR8 Shooters and the Smoke Pub Armatech Hustlers scored identical 9-6 triumphs against the Abyss Crazy 8 and the Smoke Pub Destroyers.
The Voyagers battle the STR8 Shooters, the Hustlers clash with the Crazy 8, and the Home Boyz meet the Destroyers in tonight’s matches.
