Tinian’s 3-day San Jose Fiesta begins tomorrow

TINIAN—Preparations for the 2022 Tinian San Jose Fiesta are underway, marking the 66th anniversary in celebration of Tinian’s patron saint, San Jose the Worker. Tinian & Aguiguan Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and the collective Tinian leadership welcome everyone in the Marianas to join this fun-filled three-day weekend event from Friday, April 29, to Sunday, May 1, at the Tinian Fiesta Grounds.

Star Marianas Air, Inc. will be extending its flight schedules beginning Friday, April 29 to Saturday, April 30. Each night during this promotional period, there will be flights from Saipan to Tinian from 8am to 9:30pm and flights from Tinian to Saipan will operate from 8:30am until 9:30pm.

The Tinian Mayor’s Office will be extending the camping areas along the coastline nearest to the Fiesta Grounds, including Jones Beach, Taga Beach, and Tachogna Beach, to be available to visitors for camping. Reservations to use any of the pavilions during the fiesta weekend should be made via email at frontofficemot@gmail.com in advance.

Ten of the island’s best local vendors will dish out traditional cuisine and unique street food. Serving up the best of island barbecue will be Chana’s Kitchen, Bento Box, Queen’s Restobar, and RB5. Got a sweet tooth? Check out Sweeties Corner for an assortment of desserts and a wide variety of shave ice—perfect on a hot day! Expand your palate when choosing a menu from JC Cafe.

Experience the first-ever Grease Pig and Grease Pole Competition, where individuals go head-to-head to demonstrate strength and agility. Hop on your boat and compete in the annual San Jose Fiesta Fishing Derby as well as the Perpetual Softball Tournament.

Accessorize with Tinian’s Biton’s Boutique and Rio’s Fashion Boutique as they showcase new threads, and be sure to grab a toy or souvenir from Chelu Alynez. “5 and 1” is opening its doors to all gamers with darts and softball pitching game.

The True North Band will be live on stage this fiesta weekend, as well as the Selepeo Brothers and the Groove Theory Cover Band.

The San Jose Parish Council invites the public to attend festivities at the church in celebration of the fiesta weekend on Sunday, May 1. The Novenan San Jose will be held at the Social Hall at 3:15pm and Fr. Anthony Aguason will lead the Misan San Jose at 4pm followed by the dinner banquet. (PR)
