According to Lorna Cruz, TPL offered activities that integrated reading, physical activities, arts and crafts, and games.
“The highlight of the program was the Read-A-Loud, vocabulary challenge and essay writing contest for tenth to twelfth graders,” Cruz said.
Children who joined the contests and won took home Kindles, cellphones, assorted gift certificates, school bags, school supplies, and educational toys.
Cruz said that TPL’s Fizz, Boom, Read program is a collaboration with the Joeten Kiyu Public Library and the Tinian Mayor’s Office.
“TPL shares this success with our community partners who support our programs and make this summer enjoyable. We are grateful to the leadership, vendors, organizations, agencies, guest readers, volunteer judges, and individuals that made our program more enjoyable,” she said.
In related news, JKPL is hosting its next session of the Fizz, Boom, Read program next week at the Tanapag Youth Center from Aug. 5 to Aug. 8, from 1pm to 3:30pm. They will also conduct two more sessions in August in Kagman and at JKPL.
