Tinian has new resident department heads who will run eight government agencies on the island.

According to Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas, the new department heads include Juan Santos for the Department of Public Safety, Melissa Aquiningoc for the Department of Finance, Susan Cruz for the Department of Commerce, Joel Untalan for the Department of Public Works, Guillermo Borja for the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Bonnie Borja for the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, and Jay San Nicolas for the Department of Labor.

Mayor San Nicolas said he made the appointments, which were then transmitted to the chairman of the Tinian Municipal Council and “they had 30 days to hear and decide on nomination.”

“I am confident that they are going to do a fine job in their respective departments and their performance will be evaluated within three months from now. I will be working closely with the Tinian Municipal Council and they will also be given the performance review of the new resident department heads,” San Nicolas said.

When asked why he chose them, he said it is because of their experience and qualifications.

“I based my decision on their experience and qualifications and I’d also like to thank the council for the confirmation of nominees, the Tinian Legislative Delegation, and people of Tinian for their support,” he said.
