Tinian mayor thanks delegation for assistance
Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas commends the Tinian Legislative Delegation for their recent assistance in procuring much needed maintenance equipment for several of Tinian’s government departments and the Tinian Guesthouse.
“There are many government agencies on Tinian that are underfunded and do not have funds to purchase basic maintenance equipment. I am thankful that the Tinian Legislative Delegation has assisted CCA and the Fire Department with what I consider to be basic maintenance needs.”
Using their legislative accounts, the delegation purchased a water blaster and bush cutter for both CCA and the Tinian Fire Department. The TLD also donated two washers and dryers for the Tinian Guesthouse on Saipan, which houses medical patients from Tinian.
“This assistance could not have come at a better time given the aftermath of Soudelor. We have very sick residents who cannot physically withstand the long wait at the laundromats,” said San Nicolas.
Carla San Nicolas, director of the Tinian Guesthouse, also expressed her appreciation to the TLD. “The new washers and dryers will definitely make life easier for our patients who don’t have the ability to wait the long lines at the laundromats. On their behalf, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Tinian Delegation for their assistance.”
San Nicolas also commends the entire Tinian leadership for their continued spirit of collaboration and unified front in addressing Tinian’s most pressing issues. “At this time, our local budget, which normally funds the needs of the Tinian Guesthouse and subsidizes some of the operational costs of our various government agencies, cannot provide any form of relief given the continued closure of the casino operations. This assistance from the TLD is timely and I thank the entire Tinian Leadership for their continued support and assistance.”
