Tinian Democratic Party chair Kiyoshi vows to ensure Tinian will fully support Tina Sablan
Tinian Democratic Party chair Jose Kiyoshi has assured that he will work hard to ensure that the people of Tinian will stand with them in full support with Rep. Christina E. Sablan as their candidate in the November 2022 general elections.
“I believed that Tina would make the best candidate for the Democrats and I echo the party’s sentiments on how she is someone our people can trust,” said Kiyoshi in a statement.
NMI Democratic Party secretary Luella Marciano said that after so many years of having men take the lead in running the islands, it’s time people give women a chance.
Marciano said she was impressed when she ran alongside Sablan in last year’s midterm elections for the House of Representatives Precinct 2. She said she learned a lot from Sablan and knows that Sablan is capable of running the government.
“She’s educated, hardworking, and a lot of people look up to her because she’s an advocate for us all,” Marciano said.
Stephen Woodruff, who is a member of the NMI Democratic Party’s Central Executive Committee, said that Sablan’s first name, Tina, stands for “Trustworthy, Independent, Natural, and Accountable.”
James Cabrera, also a member of the Central Executive Committee, said “In Tina we trust.”
The 18 members of the Central Executive Committee unanimously approved the recommendation of the Gubernatorial Search Committee to select Tina Sablan and Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan as their candidates for governor and delegate, respectively.
