Tinian, despite failing to compete in the regular season, is automatically seeded fourth, while ACS only plays in the tournament.
Rota High School was supposed to join the tournament, but failed to secure the needed funds for their trip.
ACS will have a tall order against them when they take on the undefeated and defending champion Marianas High School tomorrow, Friday, at 11am at the MHS Gymnasium’s north court
Grace Christian Academy, the 2013 titlist, battles winless Saipan Southern High School at the same time at the south side.
Kagman High School and Saipan International School collide at the north court, while Mt. Carmel School faces Tinian at the other side at 12noon.
Teams can start their warm-up exercises at 10:30am, while the matches will continue until 3pm on Friday. On Saturday, games will start at 9am and end with the finals at 12noon.
MHS swept all of its 10 games in the elimination round and did not drop a set since opening the season with consecutive wins against GCA and Mt. Carmel.
GCA came in second with a 7-3, losing twice to MHS and its other setback against Mt. Carmel this season.
Saipan International School and MCS ended up with identical 5-5 slates to end up tied for third, but the former secured the No. 3 seeding in this weekend’s final tournament based on the number of sets won.
SIS varsity won 73.7 percent of the sets they played or 14 out of 19, while MCS V came up with 63.2 percent or 12-of-19.
Kagman High School finished fifth at 2-8 with two of its wins against winless Saipan Southern High School.
