Tina, Leila thank ‘superstar’ supporters
Rep. Christina “Tina” Sablan (D-Saipan) and Rep. Leila Fleming Staffler (D-Saipan), who are running for governor and lieutenant governor under the Democratic Party banner this November, want to thank the scores of donors, supporters and volunteers who made recent campaign events a success. The two called the two back-to-back events “inspiring and humbling.”
“These events don’t just happen on their own. A lot of experience, dedication and hard work came together to make our ‘Livestock Fundraiser’ and the Kababayan gathering so successful,” said Sablan. “There are so many people to thank, starting with Lawrence Camacho, who was chairman of the Livestock Fundraiser.”

Staffler noted that others who donated prizes of live animals for the raffle included her uncle, Thomas Fleming from Tinian; Manuela Manlulu, her aunt; Franklin Babauta, Martin Castro, Joseph Roberto; Danny Quitugua; and Ben Duenas. She also thanked musicians Larry and Kui Lee.
“They’re all superstars in our view,” said Sablan.
The many people who bought raffle tickets and provided financial support for the Livestock Fundraiser, which honored the farmers and ranchers who produce the food that feeds Northern Marianas families, were also heroes of the day, added Staffler.
Both candidates, who serve together in the Commonwealth House of Representatives, also thanked the organizers and supporters of the Kababayan event. “The organizers, Regina Duenas and Brando De Belen, welcomed us with open arms, and we had a chance to meet and speak personally with the many people who were there in attendance,” said sablan.
The support they received will help their campaign reach even more people in the coming weeks, Staffler said. (PR)
