Reps. Tina Sablan (Ind-Saipan) and John Paul Sablan (R-Saipan) may be from opposing aisles of the Legislature but the two are teaming up on projects for their district, Precinct 2.

Tina Sablan is one of the seven independents in the House under the minority, while J.P. Sablan is a member of the ruling Republican majority; he is the floor leader and chairman of the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation.

Both lawmakers just completed several cleanups in their district, and also organized the planting of trees, flowers, and other vegetables at the William S. Reyes Elementary School last month.

Now they are looking at shoreline plantings in Precinct 2 beaches like Laly 4 and Sugar Dock. They are looking to partner with the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance on this project.

Both lawmakers are also planning to plant more trees in the villages, cleanups, and other beautification projects in their precinct. They are also looking at hosting a job fair and holding regular town hall meetings for the people of Precinct 2.

The first town hall meeting will be held on May 28, Tuesday, from 5pm to 7pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
