As part of its efforts to recognize and acknowledge staff members’ hard work and commitment to students, the Northern Marianas College Staff Senate named three employees as “Staff of the Quarter” awardees.

The three are marketing coordinator Miguel Dandan, financial aid counselor Verna Deleon Guerrero, and accountant Catherine “Kitty” Villagomez. Each of them will receive a monetary prize and a reserved parking slot for the quarter.

“Congratulations to Miguel Dandan, Catherine ‘Kitty’ Villagomez, and Verna Deleon Guerrero who are the last three staff members to be honored as Staff of the Quarter for 2021,” said NMC Staff Senate president Geri Rodgers. “While we recognize that the staff at the college collectively exemplify a hardworking spirit, these three were peer-selected for this special honor. Thank you, Miguel, Kitty, and Verna for your efforts toward making processes run smoothly at the college. We appreciate you!”

The Staff Senate sponsored a Spring Coffee Connection employee gathering event to announce the awards.

“I am very thankful and honored that my coworkers voted for me to have this distinction,” Dandan said. “I’d like to thank my team at Institutional Advancement as well, as I would not have been able to receive this award without their help.”

Deleon Guerrero shared the same sentiments. “I am extremely happy to receive the award,” she said. “It is an honor to be the first Student Support Service awardee. I am grateful for the recognition, support, and opportunity to work with a group of dedicated colleagues. “

Villagomez also said she is “truly grateful” to have received the award. “I am thankful for my colleagues in recognizing my value and hard work I have for this institution and towards higher education as well,” Villagomez said.

NMC president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero also expressed his congratulations and thanks to the three employees for their hard work and dedication to the college.

“Miguel, Verna, and Catherine do so much for our Proa tribe,” Deleon Guerrero said. “I, along with the NMC community, express our gratitude toward these hardworking individuals.” (NMC)
