The Marianas is among the latest destinations around the world to launch the “SafeTravels” program of the World Travel & Tourism Council.

According to WTTC’s website, “the SafeTravels Stamp was created for travelers to recognize destinations and businesses around the world [that] have adopted the SafeTravels health and hygiene global standardized protocols.”

The Marianas Visitors Authority has registered as the lead agency for issuing the SafeTravels Stamp in the Marianas. The program is free and available to all businesses in the Marianas who align their COVID-19 Safety Guidelines and Protocols with the SafeTravels Program guidelines. Business may now apply online at www.mymarianas.com/clean-safe- marianas.

“As our destination prepares to welcome more visitors, the ‘Safe Travels’ program is one additional tool to help us recover safely. It is globally recognized and developed by the WTTC to provide COVID-19 safety recognition for the tourism trade and domestic and international consumers,” said MVA managing director Priscilla M. Iakopo. “It encourages our community,

visitors, and tourism trade partners to confidently support businesses displaying the ‘Safe Travels’ Stamp.”

Upon application and submission of business health and hygiene protocols, the CNMI COVID-19 Task Force will review each application. Businesses will be contacted by email for more information or to schedule an inspection at the business location. Once approved, businesses will receive a business safe travel logo package and window decals. (PR)
