The Game, Paire join Masters League

Two teams have confirmed their participation in the 8×8 Masters Winter League 2019 that will be played this month, starting on Dec. 15 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Paire and The Game have turned in their respective rosters in the competition for players in the 35 and-above age group.

Leading The Game is CNMI national team head coach Michiteru Mita and he will be joined on the squad by Jersh Angeles, Martin Jambor, Minki Kim, Kosuke Sato, Panapa Peteru, Shunji Nagayasu, Fradel Sedillo, Suguru Takahashi, Noaki Oura, Taeho Kim, Chong Koo Gil, Jun Woo Lee, and Jihu Jin. Angeles and Jambor are also listed as coach and assistant coach, respectively, while Norman Del Rosario is the team manager.

As for Paire, the squad’s initial roster is bannered by former national players Chris Nelson, Brad Ruszala, Trey Dunn, Bruce Berline, Peter Loken, and Steve McKagan. Completing the roster are Dave Bush, T.J. Bellama, Yoji Singh, Whit Altizer, and Ajani Burrell. McKagan will also serve as Paire’s coach, while Burrell and Dunn are the assistant and team manager of the group, respectively.

Only two more teams will be allowed to compete in the Masters League that will have a round-robin format in the preliminaries and single-elimination in the playoffs.

Each game in the league will be played in two 35-minute halves. The first pair of matches is set for Dec. 15, while the other games will be played on Dec. 22 and 29. The playoff round will begin on Jan. 5, 2020 with the No. 1 rank team to battle the No. 4 placer in the first semis game and the No. 2 and 3 squads colliding in the other semis duel. Winners of the Final Four matches will battle for the championship on Jan. 12, 2020.
