Frank “The Crank” Camacho’s title hopes in Pacific Xtreme Combat were quashed yesterday after he failed to make weight in time for his title bout with Guam’s Tyrone “Bones” Jones in tonight’s PXC 50.

Camacho (17-3, 13 knockouts) was supposed to face the Guam Muay Thai bet Jones (5-4, 3KOs) for the vacant PXC lightweight belt in the main event at the University of Guam Calvo Fieldhouse in Mangilao.

Trench Tech promoter Cuki Alvarez said in a Facebook message to the Saipan Tribune that Camacho did not meet the 155-lb limit in yesterday’s weigh in at Cars Plus in Maite. He added that Camacho was 3.9 lbs overweight.

Alvarez said the main event will still continue but Camacho, if he wins, will not get the belt.

“If Jones wins, he gets the title plus Frank has to pay 80 percent of his purse toward penalties to [his opponent],” said Alvarez.

Despite failing to make the weight that disqualified him for winning the lightweight belt, Alvarez said that Camacho took it positively.

“Everything is still all good. Rules are rules. Frank is much better now, though he was severely dehydrated [before the weigh in]. He’s in good spirits and at least he still gets to fight,” Alvarez said.

Three other CNMI fighters will also see action in the undercard bouts with Alvarez’s son Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez facing Japanese Yutaro Muramoto in a bantamweight match.

Roman “Sonic Boom” Alvarez, Shane’s cousin, will take on New Zealand’s Mark Abelardo in a featherweight bout, while Josh “Chaos” Duenas hopes for some redemption when he collides with another New Zealander, Kai Cara-France, in the flyweight division.

Cuki Alvarez and Ken “Kamikazi” Tanzawa will act as the cornerment of the CNMI fighters.

Yusuke Yachi of Japan will defend his PXC featherweight title against Alex Volkanovski in the semi main event.
