“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new”
—Bhagwan Rhee Rajneesh
That moment when a woman becomes a mother is a transformative experience not only for the child but also the mother. This is also the moment when the strong bond between mother and child starts, where very moment is precious and every second is bliss.
Let us then pay tribute to new mothers with their babies in tow to talk about the first hours of being a new mother, their transformation, and the different levels of emotions that come with it.
Jessica Marie Romolor gave birth to her first child, Jeremy Anthony Ascano, last Tuesday.
“Being a first-time mom is hard to explain but it’s a good experience. Having him is life-changing because, from now on, it is all about him—our plans for the present and future.
“A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years and in your heart till the day you die.”
—Mary Mason
Mary Grace Bautista gave birth to her third child, Frizia Aichee S. Bautista, last Tuesday.
“Being a mom is a full-time job, no time-out, and unlimited. Frizia is my third baby but being a new mom is always an adventure and at times scary but the experience and unexplainable feeling is always wonderful.
When you see your baby, all the hardship that you went through immediately fade away and feel an overwhelming love.
For me, aside from the Lord, the biggest love that you can give is for your child. No matter how old they grow up to be, I will never stop being a mother to my children,” she said.
“Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother.”
—Lin Yutang
Shey Owens gave birth to her third child, Makai Eliah Owens, last Wednesday.
“The feeling is surreal. Makai is my third baby and I didn’t think that we would have another one but he is here and we are blessed to have a healthy baby.
“I forgot how it felt to have a little one but now it’s coming back and it’s a miracle. My firstborn, Kanoa, is now 6 years old but, up to now, I marvel at the fact how a human being is capable of loving that much.
“When you have a baby, whether it’s your first, second, or third, the feeling that you want to protect that baby, ensure his or her happiness, safety and health comes automatically.”
