Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial further cemented his legend in mixed martial arts by winning the Pacific Xtreme Combat heavyweight championship belt after soundly beating Guam’s Roque Martinez in PXC 24 in Manila, Philippines.
Fighting out of Marianas Elite, Fitial scored a fourth round technical knockout victory against the Spike 22 fighter in PXC 24’s main event.
In addition to his victory in Manila last June, Fitial also fought and won bouts in Beijing and Hong Kong, China; Seoul, South Korea; and Guam.
The 6’3” 240-lb brawler holds a record of 12 wins, six losses, two draws, and one no contest.
In addition to wearing the PXC heavyweight championship belt, Fitial is also the current Legend Fighting Championship titleholder and was hailed locally as the People’s Champ by Trench Tech Purebred Promotions’ president Cuki Alvarez following an iffy draw decision he absorbed in his first meeting with Martinez.
Some would say that Fitial defeated Martinez not once, but twice as a controversial decision by the judges resulted in a draw back in late January at PXC 22: Battle For The Belt in Guam.
The match went all five rounds, after which a draw may have been gifted to erstwhile champion Martinez under the notion of having to decisively beat the champ to be the champ.
Based on numerous accounts, Martinez played mostly defense throughout the fight and his own home crowd booed the decision when it was announced after the final bell.
At any rate, Fitial immediately requested a rematch and got it roughly five months later overseas on neutral ground.
Coming into the fight of the year, Fitial vowed not to leave the result in the hands of the judges.
He used his long reach with lighter footwork to his advantage and managed to swell shut Martinez’s right eye by the end of round two.
Fitial kept the pressure on his rival and took Round 3 with a number of brutal flurries and then finished Martinez off shortly after in the fourth round when his opponent slipped and fell after blowing his load early out of the gate. Once Martinez hit the mat, Fitial jumped on top of him and ground and pounded his way to the TKO triumph.
