Thank you!

Thank goodness that the election is over! Well, except for the runoff that is. First and foremost, I would like to thank God almighty for giving me the strength throughout my campaign. I would like to thank my wife and children for bearing with me while I go out house-to-house for five months thrice a week. I would like to thank my committee-to-elect, family, and most especially my supporters during the election. Although I did not won a seat, I gained the love and respect you gave me when I met each one of you at your door. My apologies to those who I didn’t meet eye-to-eye but may have received my card when you were not home.

A big congratulations to all the winners who won a seat. To my longtime friend Ed Propst, I told you you’ll get a seat. To uncle Roman Benavente, I too told you there was no doubt in my mind you’ll win again. Moving forward, I ask that every member work together and put political differences aside and vote on legislation beneficial to us locals. I expect the 19th Legislature to deliver by giving the authority to the people. We are the voice of the government.

Keep this in mind, though, that the key to revive this weak economy is to employ the thousands of our local Chamorro and Carolinians. There is no other way than this. And that is the democratic way! We are the backbone of this great Commonwealth and I believe that $100 million a year can be made and spent here in the CNMI when our local people are in control of the workforce.

To all candidates like me who didn’t make it, do not be discouraged. Never give up and always try and try again. We are all in this together and we are all winners here! We gave it our best! Let us remember that we should appreciate the gift of life and family and that we keep healthy and that you keep your pride in the balance. There will always be an election.

In closing, a big thank you to my Democratic Party brothers for the opportunity. We are a family. It was a fun and a great experience for all of us. Not today, not tomorrow but one day, the Democratic Party will come out an unstoppable powerhouse. Thank you and God bless the CNMI!
