Terroristic threat suspect arrested

On Sunday, June 11, 2017, at about 2:43am, Department of Public Safety police responded to a reported terroristic threat at the Francisco C. Ada-Saipan International Airport.

The suspect, Changchun Ai, 48, Chinese male, was detained at the Transportation Security Agency screening area for notifying TSA screening agents that he may have a bomb.

Police learned that, at about 1:50am, the suspect was being searched at the TSA screening departure area when he told the screening agents that he may have a bomb. The suspect was searched thoroughly and no bomb was found. The suspect confessed to TSA agents he was joking. The suspect was detained by Ports Police and arrested by DPS officers on charges of disturbing the peace and terroristic threatening.

The suspect was scheduled to leave Saipan for Incheon International Airport in Seoul, Korea at 2:30am. (Crime Stoppers)
