Shine Tenorio triumphed in the Marianas Golf Association December Ace tournament held last month at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

The 18-handicapper posted a net 67 for a three-stroke win over many-time CNMI national team member Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho (net 70). Tenorio shot a 41 on the front and 44 on the back for a gross 85. Camacho, a 3-handicapper, registered the lowest gross with his 73, built around his 38 in the first nine holes and 35 in the last. Joining Tenorio and Camacho in the Top 3 was July Ace Don Hallmark, who delivered a 49 and 45 on the front and back nines, respective, and deducting his 22 handicap, the latter ended up with a net 72.

John Terlaje (net 73), James Benavente (77), Jeff Lee Camacho (76), Dung Tenorio (76), Chris Groves (76), Calvin Yamagishi (78), Chris Leon Guerrero (81), Jack Sabalas (81), and Jerome Sablan (82) were the other participants in the MGA December Ace held last Dec. 19. Tony Benavente and Alvin Salas also saw action in last month’s competition as guest players.

In the side event, Jeff Lee Camacho, Groves, Dung Tenorio, and Hallmark won closest to the pin shots on No. 6, No. 8, No. 12, and No. 15 holes, respectively. All are par-3 holes with the No. 8 the longest at 139 yards, followed by No. 12 (134 yards), No. 15 (120), and No. 6 (83).

MGA holds monthly tournaments to determine the qualifiers for its club championship. Its 2020-2021 season started last May and will end in April. The early qualifiers are Ron Benavente (May Ace), Chris Leon Guerrero (June), Hallmark (July), Joey Dela Cruz (August), John Sablan (September), Yamagishi (October), and Patrick Guerrero (November).

Though there are only four monthly competitions left in the season, MGA is still accepting members. New members annual fee is $40 and returning members is $30.
