Tenorio jumps to first place in batting race
The North Starz’ Roke Tenorio is now the batting leader in the 2016 Saipan Baseball League.
Tenorio moved from third (after last week’s matches) to first this week as he averaged .520 off his 13-for-25 performance at the plate. He took the top spot from last week’s leader and Yankees player Franco Nakamura, who earlier averaged .588 (10-for-17), but was out of the Top 20 as his team did not play this week. Nokki Saralu of the defending champions GSM Brewers remained at second place with his .519 average after going 14-for-27.
Another Brewers player—Anthony Tenorio—made it to the Top 5 with his third-best average of .464 (13-for-28), while Jose and Peyton Lizama of the unbeaten and pacesetters Chalan Kanoa Bears are tied for fourth and fifth with similar .458 averages. The two Beats players were 11-for-24 in the team’s six wins in as many games.
Completing the Top 10 are the Aces’ Ben Jones (.435), the Falcons’ Giovanni Mira (.429), the Bears’ A.J. Lizama (.417), the Aces’ John Tudela (.440), and the Falcons’ A.J. Evangelista (.400). There are 12 other players on the batting leaderboard, which was based on 18 or more times at bat and compiled after last Wednesday’s game (Bears won over the Falcons).
In the pitching race, the Aces’ Mike Muna is still on top with his 1.08 ERA built around 16.2 innings pitched and two earned runs allowed. Ricky Joe Riungel, who held the lead for a couple of weeks, occupies the No. 2 spot with the North Starz’ s Jared Camacho, as they have similar 1.28 ERAs. The Yankees’ Kelvin Kapileo (1.64) and the Bears’ Jeffrey Lizama rounded out the Top 5 after posting 1.64 and 1.80, respectively.
In other categories, the Bears’ A.J. Lizama leads in the runs divison with 12, while his teammate Peyton Lziama and the Aces’ Juan Iguel have 11 apiece. Saralu has the most doubles with 4, while his fellow Brewers player Anthony Tenorio is on top of the triples race with 3, tying the Aces’ Lamarc Iguel. Saralu is also ahead in the RBIs race, sharing the lead with Tudela and Jose and A.J. Lizama as all four have 10 each. The Brewers’ Lancaster Secharmidal is alone at the top spot for the strikeouts leaders with his 23 Ks, while Muna has 22.
