Temporary water outage on Thursday
Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in San Jose and Oleai will experience a temporary water service interruption on Thursday, Aug. 6, as crews continue work on the Department of Public Works Texas Road Improvement Project.
At 8am, CUC will temporarily interrupt water service to customers in San Jose and Oleai, to allow DPW’s contractor, AIC Marianas Inc., improve the local water system while crews make way for the road improvements.
Crewmen will replace two of the existing gate valves, disconnect the 10-inch water line from the 12-inch water line, install a pressure reducing valve, and connect a new 10-inch water line to the existing 10-inch water line.
Work on the project is expected to take up to nine hours to complete, at which time water service will be restored to the area. Customers in the vicinity may temporarily experience higher than normal chlorine levels as part of the sanitization process when the main is put back into service. CUC advises customers to run the water until the chlorine level is reduced.
CUC also encourages all customers in the affected communities to conserve water and that those who have water tanks and cisterns ensure their on-site equipment is fully functional and sanitary.
