As part of an effort to uphold the memories of service members from the CNMI who have died while serving our island and country, the Fallen Heroes Memorial Group have scheduled a goodwill Memorial Day weekend softball tournament from May 23 through May 25 at the Capital Hill softball field.

“We felt we owed it to the men and women of the armed forces who put their lives on the line every day, so that we can enjoy the many freedoms of our country,” said FHMG president Kennedy Benjamin. “This tournament is a way of bringing the families of fallen service members and our community together to say thank you for their service and sacrifice.”

Registration is open to softball players who would like to form a team. The team entrance fee for the three-day tournament is $150 and is due on Friday, May 16. Proceeds from this event will go toward supporting the Memorial Day ceremony scheduled on May 26 at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Marpi.

A coach’s meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 16, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium’s conference room at 6:30pm. Prospecting teams are encouraged to send a representative to the meeting to discuss tournament rules. Mandatory forms will be handed out as well.
