MMAC Committee’s note: As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Marianas March Against Cancer, the 2012 MMAC committee would like to honor and recognize the efforts of our teams for their untiring support in the fight against cancer.
Tan Holdings is teaming up with students of Kagman High School to form a team for the 2012 Marianas March Against Cancer.
The largest private employer in the CNMI has been involved with MMAC for seven years while the Home of the Ayuyus has been doing it for a year.
“Over the years, it had become apparent that Tan Holdings had all these wonderful resources and employees that contributed to making each of our tents a unique attraction. However, we wanted to inject more spirit and energy into our event,” states the Team Tan Holdings/Kagman High School profile that recounts how the partnership was formed, thanks to Dave Guerrero.
Spearheading the team are team captains Ed Arriola, Jr., Becky Tenorio, Natasha Kuckuck, and Jay Sanchez.
For this year, the team will have a carnival-inspired tent at the Marianas March Against Cancer, which will be held on April 27 to 28 at the Hopwood Jr. High School field. The tent will feature rides, games, and other “special surprises.”
When asked for any words of advice for those who want to form an MMAC Team, Team Tan Holdings/Kagman High School said in a joint statement: “If you’re a school, I would suggest joining with a private company or even join another school. It makes things easier with many people to assist.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of MMAC, the largest annual signature fundraising event of Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-led non-profit organization that advocates for cancer victims.
MMAC is a 12-hour overnight event that features teams under different categories (Pulan, Napu, Atdao, and Pution) competing for various prizes including most money raised, most laps, best baton, best tent, most luminaries sold, and most team spirit.
