The Autism Society of the CNMI held Quiz Nite 1 Tinian for the first time last Saturday, April 22, at the Antonio Hocog Manglona Amphitheater.

Some of the smartest people on Tinian showed up to play Quiz Nite 1 Tinian. In all, there were five teams—Team TPL (Tinian Public Library), Team Senior, Team COLTS, Team COTA, and Team Too Cool.

They all competed for the very first bragging rights for Tinian. The game had five categories including Marianas, Polynesia, S.I.L.C., Laws, and Music.

Top three finishers were Team COTA with third place and the smallest trophy then Team COLTS with a bigger trophy, and finally, when the dust settled, the year-long bragging rights go to Team Too Cool.

The three judges for the event were Vincent King of the Tinian Health Center, Allan Perez of the Tinian Mayor’s Office, and Monika Diaz of ASCNMI, VOICES, and the Tinian Mayor’s Office. The process observers were Jocelyn King of Tinian Elementary School and Zoey King of Tinian Junior and Senior High School.

All participants had a great time and learned many interesting facts about autism awareness on the island of Tinian. COTA was there to share their information on transportation.

On Sunday, April 23, from 3pm to 5pm, Quiz Nite 1 Tinian participants gathered at the Tachonga Beach and barbecued some hot dogs for the Hot Dog Walk Run Roll and Family Fun Day.

The walk started from Tachonga Beach and ended at the Veteran’s Park. A total of 60 folks participated in the walk including COTA’s John Demapan and the crew.

Thanks to Monika Diaz and her family for all the hard work they did.

In two weeks time, 6pm to 9pm, May 6, 2017, ASCNMI will host Quiz Nite 1 Rota at the Dr. Rita H. Inos Junior and Senior High School.

Also on Sunday, May 7, from 3pm to 5pm, ASCNMI will host the Hot Dog Walk, Run, Roll, Mini-Marathon and Family Fun Day. It will take place from the Rota Baseball Field in Sinapalo to the end of the pavement and back.

Saipan will hold its own Hot Dog Walk, Run, Roll on Aug. 29 from 3pm to 5pm at the Last Command Post in Marpi to the split in the road and back to the Last Command Post. (ASCNMI)
