Team CNMI named for Mathleague nat’l competition

Students for Mathcourt’s Team CNMI were announced after last Saturday’s competition at Saipan Southern High School.

These students will represent the CNMI in the Mathleague.org national high school competition in Kansas City later this year.

Won Woo Cho, a twelfth grader from Marianas Baptist School, took home gold.

Hyun Bin Hwang, a senior at Saipan Southern High School, placed second.

Won Jun Kim, a tenth grader from MBA, placed third.

Jun Seo Park, a senior at SSHS, and Joel Jang, a junior at SSHS, placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Myung Jae Cho, a tenth grade student from Saipan International School, placed sixth.

Choi, Hwang, and Park also competed in last year’s national competition.

Alternatives for Team CNMI were also named. They are Agape Christian School’s Frederic Dean Michael Guintu and Lucy Gui, Marianas Baptist Academy’s Alina Yoon and Su Hwan Bae, and Saipan International School’s Dong Gu Hyun and Jun Young Chung.

MBA also won the title of “Gold Team” for the team round of the competition.
