‘Tautaumona’ stirs up Rota residents

For the past few days, the screen name Tautaumona would comment on issues relating the Island of Rota. It is understood that freedom of speech and debating important issues are fair game. In this case Tautaumona took it to the next level to where he/she disrespected the island of Rota and its people by saying that, with the food shortage on Rota, we should be eating boonie dogs and toads and continues to do so.

Rota has abundant local food that will make your mouth water. People are misled when the newspaper states that Rota has no food. We do have food on the island. It is more like the essential needs that Rota is short off. For example; butane gas, laundry detergent, soy sauce, etc. Other than that, Rota has deer, fish, sweet potato, coconut crabs, and everyone’s favorite, fruit bats, and much more.

Tautaumona also continues to criticize our senator, Sen. Victor B. Hocog. Yes, Sen. Hocog is bound to be criticized because of his position as a public servant. Although Sen. Hocog has been through many obstacles in his private life, he continues to focus on helping his people. Yet folks like Tautaumona continue to stress their hatred of him and our people and what we have accomplished and will accomplish.

Since Tautaumona expresses his/her ungratified love for our island, we just want to say to him: On behalf of the people of Rota we want to express our sincere gratitude for motivating us more. We strive to move forward in the belief and hope that we will prevail no matter what the circumstance are. We are one people, one love and most of all we are Rota!

In closing we would like to remind everyone that Rota and its people will continue to display respect and humbleness to everyone who decides to make Rota their vacation destination or final destination. A great leader of Rota once said, “Rota is beautiful, Rota is friendly, and Rota is delicous!”
